April 23, 2015\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013Mokulele Airlines performed a textbook landing yesterday on a Maui to Waimea flight that experienced engine trouble shortly after takeoff from Kahului. The pilots reported the issue to the tower, and requested permission for a priority landing which they received. The 2 pilots followed established procedures for which they are trained and landed the aircraft safely. There was never any danger to the passengers or the crew.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are a family-owned and operated airline,\u201d said Ron Hansen, President & CEO of Mokulele Airlines, \u201cand my wife, son, daughter, grandkids, and great grandkids fly routinely between the islands on our Cessna Grand Caravans. The Caravan has one of the best safety records in the industry \u2013 and on top of that we\u2019re the only Caravan operator in the U.S. that operates with a Captain and a First Officer on all of our flights. I have complete confidence in our pilots and our planes.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Mokulele\u2019s Director of Operations, Darryl Grace, the passengers disembarked and were put on the next flight to Kona. \u201cThe passengers were at no time in any danger.\u201d The engine malfunction was quickly identified and repaired by Mokulele\u2019s highly experienced maintenance department.<\/p>\n

On another note, Mokulele welcomed the arrival of its 11th<\/sup>\u00a0new Grand Caravan EX which arrived in Kona earlier today after a long flight from the mainland. Mokulele now operates 15 Grand Caravans and employs 93 pilots.<\/p>\n
